Nikon D70 with off-camera light Elinchrom D-Lite RX 2

Old Nikon D70 with new Elinchrom portable studio light, how to make them to work together? Nikon flash light shoe does not communicate (except on on/off level) with any other flash device than Nikons own, so the camera will not recognize Elinchrom transmitter and external flashes will not light.

I got it working only with discarding transmitter and using slave trigger. Open the small flash from your camera and shoot. Make sure Elinchrom has slave on (the eye symbol) and set your camera not to send pre-flash just prior the shoot.

To do that, from D70 menu, I have Flash mode set to manual 1/16. TTL and Commander mode will not work because off-camera flash will not be in sync with the shutter.

Sync works when camera does not send pre-shutter flashing
